CCFA began in 1998 as an informal coalition of small, forestland owners and forestry professionals responding to increasing intrusion by political and environmental agendas. It later became a non-profit association, supported and run by its members.
CCFA has no operational affiliations with any other organizations or businesses. Membership dues and private contributions finance all CCFA activities.
CCFA is engaged in legal action on behalf of its members. A Legal Action Fund has been established that is kept separate from other CCFA funds.
CCFA speaks for private citizens
Previous to the formation of CCFA, a few voices spoke for us... The California Forestry Association, the Farm Bureau, the Pacific Legal Foundation... but none spoke directly to the problems of family landowners, independent foresters and private citizens. Although we mutually support these groups, CCFA specifically represents individuals and small businesses of the Central Coast.
CCFA protects forestland owners' rights
CCFA participates in public debate, takes positions in County and State government forums, testifies at hearing and legal actions, files petitions to correct scientific errors in regulatory decisions and is engaged in legal action against the Santa Cruz County Supervisors and the State Coastal Commission for intruding on the right to responsibly use our forestlands.
CCFA is an information clearinghouse
CCFA gathers and publicizes information of interest to its members on this website. A quarterly newsletter, The Log, is mailed free to members, and special mailings are sent occasionally on issues of concern to forestland people. We maintain contact with forest related political, regulatory, legal, environmental and scientific communities in order to respond when necessary and keep our membership informed.
CCFA helps solve members' problems
From time to time, members encounter forestry related problems or have questions with which our directors or officers have experience or knowledge. We try to provide specific help or suggestions whenever we have an inquiry from a member.
